Sure, I get screenies for big events like boss kills, final dings and so on, but that’s usually it. I do have a few other “miscellaneous” screenshots rotting on my hard drive, though, and finally decided to share. They don’t go back very far, character history-wise, since I switch computers or reformat hard drives so frequently, but hopefully you’ll enjoy them regardless.

Sure, I’ve made alts on PvP servers before to see what all the fuss was about, and generally enjoyed the experience. But, none of these alts made it past level 30, as so the experience was extremely limited at best. Now I find myself uprooted from Medivh, my carebear home, and replanted on Ner’zhul–a PvP server on the infamous BG9.

Let me give you a small taste of what questing has been like for me here, with a foray into “Live Blogging”. When I decided to begin this experiment, I’d already been questing in Grizzly Hills for an hour or so and had been ganked, twice, by the same troll shaman while I was minding my own business killing wolves for a quest. (Them or Us!, if you’re wondering.)

Now, let’s see where we go from here, shall we? (Times are local–EST–rather than server time, which is PST.)

11:39pm - Head out from Amberpine Lodge to do the follow-up quest, Eagle Eyes

11:41pm - Started killing eagles. One horde sighting, wasn’t ganked. Yay! The eagles are kind of a pain in the ass to find though, eh? (Especially since my Tracking appears to be busticated.)

11:42pm - Horde lock ran by. Not ganked. Yay! Still looking for eagles…

11:44pm - Finally found my third eagle. Two to go… /sigh

11:45pm - Oooh! An herb!….. Can’t pick it. (Rant for another time.) /sigh  Two horde run by, and leave me be. Looks like maybe that one shammy was just a jerk? We’ll see.

11:50pm - Eagle Eyes done, headed back to Amberpine. Wasn’t ganked! Yay!

11:51pm - Eagle quest turned in. Heading out to do Take Their Rear!

11:55pm - Still killing bears. No horde in sight so far, just other allies. Of course once I decide to blog about it, I’m left alone. =/

Side note: getting annoyed that my cat’s Prowl keeps reactivating itself without my say-so.

11:58pm - Ran across a Horde Druid in a guild called “We Punt Gnomes”

12:00am - Still pondering whether I should buy the Dalaran bear mount, or save up for my epic flyer finally…. (Need more bears to kill, getting pwned by ADD.)

12:04am - Sometimes I love internet radio. “Everyday I’m hustlin’, everyday I’m hustlin’!”  /headbop

Wtf is up with pets running for miles after being sent after a mob? That’s seriously irritating.

12:07am - Kill Shot isn’t quite as impressive when you’ve got AotV up constantly to prevent downtime while questing…

Still no gankage. If I had known “live blogging” would prevent gankage, I’d have done this hours ago. (Poor you!)

12:08am - Last bear butt looted, heading back to Amberpine.

12:10am - Flying to the Encampment to do the mustang quest. 16% of the way to 74. If quests in Grizzly Hills keep going this quickly, maybe I’ll ding again tonight.

12:13am - Looting carrots. Weeeeee… got 5. Now where the hell are the horses?!

12:14am - Found one. Dangle carrot… here, horsey horsey horsey! Weeeeeeeeeee!! :D

12:17am - I really like the neat action bar switches they implemented when you mount some weird quest mob and such. That’s really cool, eh?

12:19am - Am I seriously going to post this? I shouldn’t. But will I? Probably. I feel kinda bad for anyone who’ll actually read this mess. Would’ve been much better if the original plan worked out, and I kept getting ganked… Way to disprove my point, jerks! /sigh

12:22am - Done with the horsies. No horde sightings.

12:23am - Have Close the Deal sitting in my log waiting to get turned in. Might as well do that… (Should’ve done that before heading to the Encampment. D’oh!)

12:28am - Headed to Silverbrook for An Exercise in Diplomacy

12:35am - Wtf? No flight path at Silverbrook? Laaaaaaaaaaaame!

20% to 74. Getting lazy… may need a break for a bit. Food would be good…

12:36am - I give up on “live blogging”. The horde totally ruined what fun I could’ve gleaned from getting repeatedly ganked while questing. I blame them.

There are, however, a few noteworthy occurrences that have happened since then that you may [...] As you’ve probably noticed, like many others, I disappeared into my little nerd dungeon Wednesday night to install and enjoy Wrath of the Lich King. Monday brought with it a return to reality and the resumption of business as usual. There are, however, a few noteworthy occurrences that have happened since then that you may wish to be privy to.

Most notably, I have transferred to Ner’zhul to join Matticus and company in Conquest. The decision to leave Medivh, a realm I have been on since release, was not an easy one. It was something I had given much thought to over the past months, and Matt’s new guild (along with the release of the expansion) provided the perfect impetus to finally cut ties and move on.

I’ve had a sentimental attachment to Medivh for a long time, and agonized over my increasing desire to be free of the place. Certainly, there are friends that I’ve left behind that I will sorely miss, but the disappointments I encountered there were inevitably too great–after all, we play this game to have fun, do we not? And there was no fun left for Lassirra on Medivh.

Transferring servers has been a somewhat surreal experience for me so far. It’s been fun getting to know my new guildmates and doing instances with them–something I haven’t been able to enjoy for far too long. It’s been strange checking my Friend’s List, something once full to overflowing, and seeing nothing but blank space starring back at me. It’s also been odd seeing guild tags that mean nothing to me.

On Medivh, I knew… well, everyone. If you had a Squirrel Mafia, The Transcendent, Fury, The Dauntless, The Sidhe, Awesome, The Kaldorei, The Cutting Edge, Black Blood Battalion, Morbo, Kinetic, Masada, Unbound, Insight, Dominion, Heroic Few… guild tag… I may not know you personally, but I knew people in your guild, and it’s history, having seen it unfold myself over the years. On Ner’zhul, I know only my own guild, and I only know of the guild these new friends came from. It’s strange, to say the least.

At the same time, it’s been an extremely freeing experience. None of the old drama can touch me here and I can start anew with a crew of players who share a like-minded desire for progression.

I’m very optimistic about my future on Ner’zhul, and though I give him grief, I’m indebted to Matticus for allowing me this opportunity. My only hope is that I don’t disappoint.

And speaking of Matticus, have you heard? He’s already 80! I have to admit, I’m about 80% through 72, myself. In my defense, my parents came to visit this weekend, which cut into my play time quite a bit, and I’ve forever been a slow-paced solo leveler, preferring to take my time and cherry-pick which quests I want to do and which I don’t. But, I’ll catch up in short order and we’ll be headed into Naxxramas in no time.

I have to say, I’m excited about leveling my Jewelcrafting, and look forward to being the designated Gem Bitch for Conquest (currently the only JC in the guild, that I know of), and Cooking has forever been a pass time I greatly enjoy. I’ve already flooded the mailbox of one of our tanks with extra cooked fish I’ve caught, which was something that provided an odd sense of pride in being helpful, even to such a small degree.

I’m extremely happy in my new home, and hope my new guildmates will enjoy having me there as much as I enjoy being there.

It feels good to be able to say that again, and genuinely mean it with all sincerity.

This post ended up much more rambly than I had intended, but it felt good. I hope you’re enjoying the expansion as much as I have been!
