20 Signs You Might Be a Huntard

I’m sure many of you are familiar with Jeff Foxworthy‘s “You might be a redneck” routine. Mr Foxworthy defines being a redneck as “the glorious absence of sophistication”. With the formula for the forthcoming checklist already established, we can now adapt Mr Foxworthy’s method to our own situation in an attempt to prevent a glorious absence of… leetness?

20 Signs You Might Be a Huntard

Huntard? If you’ve ever wiped an entire party because your pet ran off somewhere and brought back “friends”… you might be a huntard.

If you’ve ever found yourself in the middle of a raid and suddenly your ranged weapon stopped firing because you forgot to repair it before you showed up… you might be a huntard.

If you’ve ever found yourself in the middle of a raid and suddenly your ranged weapon stopped firing because you forgot to pick up more ammo… you might be a huntard.

If you’ve ever been hulk-smashed by a raid boss because you forgot to feign death… you might be a huntard.

If you’ve ever done a fraction of your normal damage on a boss fight because you spent the majority of the fight with Aspect of the Viper up… you might be a huntard.

If you’ve ever enchanted a weapon you use to raid with Fiery Weapon and thought that was a good idea… you might be a huntard.

If you’ve ever specced 3/3 Focused Aim while hard hit-capped… you might be a huntard.

If you’ve ever applied Misdirection to a healer in a raid and then didn’t tell them to click it off before starting a fight… you might be a huntard.

If you’ve ever run away from a tank after pulling aggro… you might be a huntard.

If you’ve ever yelled at a healer for not healing your pet… you might be a huntard.

If you’ve ever forgotten to turn off Growl upon entering an instance and then spent the next ten minutes fighting with your tank about it… you might be a huntard.

If you’ve ever dazed your entire party or raid during a fight because you forgot to turn off Aspect of the Pack… you might be a huntard.

If you’ve ever ass-pulled a pack of mobs because you were practicing your “leet kiting skillz” and weren’t watching where you were going… you might be a huntard.

If you’ve ever thought that melee was a viable option for you in a raid or dungeon… you might be a huntard.

If you’ve ever wiped a party or raid because you got impatient for the fight to start and executed a ninja pull in order to get the ball rolling… you might be a huntard.

If you’ve ever pulled a trap target with Concussive Shot and subsequently trapped the wrong target thus inciting chaos and mayhem resulting in the deaths of two or more party members (yourself included)… you might be a huntard.

If you’ve ever uttered the phrase “everything is hunter loot” in earnest… you might be a huntard.

If you’ve ever responded to the request of a groupmate with “lol wut?”… you might be a huntard.

If you’ve ever spent more time spamming damage meters than actually dealing damage… you might be a huntard.

If you’ve ever immediately pulled aggro because you couldn’t wait the 0.2 seconds it would take the tank to use a threat-generating ability, promptly died and then demanded a battle rez… you might be a huntard.

Got any “you might be a huntard” tidbits to add to the list? Leave ‘em in the comments!

If you’ve ever Misdirected to a healer… you might be a huntard.

I would amend that to Misdirected a healer in earnest, because I think every hunter’s done it as a joke. :P

I think guring the years I’ve been playing I’ve done most of those things, MDing the healing pally and not the tanking pally…

I think we’ve all been huntards at one time or another. Fortunately, you’ve educated most of us out of those days. <3

I thought about adding “If you’ve ever fallen off the bridge in UBRS while kiting Drak, you might be a huntard” but I thought that might be a little too old-school, lol

(And yes, I’ve done it, lol)

If after three bosses into ToCr you realize you have been raiding with your Chef’s Hat on …you might be a huntard.

Okay, never seen that, but that’s awesome, lol. I know I’ve done something similar, but can’t think what it was now. I think I was raiding with my PvP trinket on or something.

I never yell at healers for not healing my pet. I do, however, ALWAYS make a point of thanking them if they do.

If you EVER try to explain to the Raid Leader that “you don’t really need you pet out”, You Might Be a Huntard!

    • Lassirra says:

Yeah, there’s no reasonable case for that argument, lol. You may not use your pet during a fight due to aoe, but they’re at least out. Particularly if you’re using a wolf, lol.

We had a hunter pet tanking Galv and Drek in an AV I was in recently because none of the tanks seemed to know what the heck was going on. It worked surprisingly well! :)

I was desperately searching for something that my hunter friends haven’t done on this list.

    I failed miserably.

    Damn huntards.

Hehehe, we all do dumb stuff from time to time. I’m sure a similar list could be populated for every class, and most players would probably have done at least one or two things on them. ;)

When you arrive at a raid full of your own self importance at the massive DPS you are about to inflict and turn other raid members green with envy….only to have it suggested that it might be a good idea to equip a real weapon and bag the fishing pole……

When you attempt the entire Black Knight H-ToC fight… equiped with a lance….

    Luckily toons can’t blush

When in the heat and noise of battle you watch with horror as your pet runs right past the trash and tries to solo the boss….

Looks like I was just beat to the punch with the lance equipped ToC fight

Also you use steady shot but in that 1.5 secs its casting the mob dies and your shot pull the next group

    Hysterical list…thanks

    • Lassirra says:

Of course, the correct response to pulling the next group is to Feign all of it onto your healer and watch the hilarity ensue! :P

Actually, if you’re quick about it, you can Misdirect it onto your tank and pretend you meant to do it, but yeah, still bad, lmao!

Ok Confession time – most moronic thing I’ve ever done… *blush*
As a new 80 I was running AV and in the crush of the 40 people at the gate I see a tell pop up in my chat box “You have been pickpocketed by {insert name} and the sum of 7g 15s 34b has been taken from your bag”. I went right off my banana at the rogue, QQ’d the entire fight (which we lost to add insult to thieving injury), cried to my guild at how wrong it was, nerd raged in trade and eventually was sufficiently pissed off at the injustice of the matter to open a ticket….
2 days later a GM whispers me – “if you had read up on the matter you would have found Rogues cannot pickpocket players – the action pop was just a joke”……….
I felt like changing names, guilds, and realms…or trying Evony :( (

LOL! /pat If it makes you feel any better, tons of people have fallen for that. I’ve seen it happen a ton. (Though I must, a tad shamefacedly, admit that I always found it hilariously amusing when they did, heh.)

Everyone makes mistakes at least once. That’s how we learn. Some of them are more spectacular than others, but those are the ones you never forget (and often make the best stories). :)

Just rolled a new hunter and loving it. Ran out of arrows once in an instance and had to port out to get some more, and also have “leet kited” right into another pack of trash. Woops. By the way love your site, and hope to continue reading awesome articles on my way to 80!
