Hunter Trinkets in Wrath

We get a lot of questions and search engine traffic regarding Hunter trinkets, so it’s about time we updated an older post on the same subject. Trinkets can be some of the hardest items to find and upgrade, particularly while leveling. This is something every class struggles with at every stage of the game, so today we’re going to talk about trinkets in Wrath that you’ll want to keep an eye out for.

Note: I’ve deliberately left faction-specific trinkets off this list to avoid confusion and help keep things brief. The list below is organized by item level, lowest to highest. Trinkets from the PTR Patch 3.3 are not included in this list.

First Mate’s Pocketwatch

Quest: The Jig is Up

While this trinket may not be particularly impressive, it’s a nice one to use while leveling up. The added Attack Power is always welcome, though there are probably other effects that would be more useful than the added Haste (such as a change to increase Attack Power or Crit Chance, for example).

Fury of the Encroaching Storm

Quest: Return to Atuik

Another trinket with Haste on it? Indeed. However, that’s not what’s particularly attractive about this trinket. The Haste is nice to get your Steady Shot in line with the global cooldown, but the on-use added Attack Power is what really make this trinket attractive.

Automated Weapon Coater

Quest: Something That Doesn’t Melt

This trinket finally gives us something other than Haste, and the change is a very welcome one. The extra 1.7% Crit Chance is definitely a nice boost, and the on-use Attack Power is also not something to sneeze at.

Goblin Repetition Reducer

Vendor: 70 Venture Coins

This trinket is a bit of an odd one. I included it primarily for the extra Attack Power it provides and the fact that it can be purchased from a vendor–two nice things for folks in dire need of a trinket. Also, this is a good trinket to have if you play on a PvP server.

Fezzik’s Pocketwatch

Quest: The Last Line of Defense

This one is a nice upgrade over the previous Haste and on-use Attack Power trinkets mentioned previously.

Anvil of Titans

Vendor: 25 Wintergrasp Marks of Honor

I realize this is primarily a PvP trinket (the Resilience was sort of a dead give-away); however, I think it’s worth mentioning for the chance-on-hit effect. That’s a lot of Attack Power, so definitely think about this trinket. Also, for folks playing on PvP servers, it’s probably not a bad idea to have something like this around anyway.

Banner of Victory

Instance Drop: Trial of the ChampionConfessor’s Cache

Even with the recent changes, Armor Penetration is still an attractive stat and the added chance to increase your Attack Power by such a significant amount is also not something you want to overlook.

Darkmoon Card: Greatness

Darkmoon Nobles Deck

The primary problem with this trinket is that it’s always expensive to procure. However, the expense is definitely worth it. This trinket provides a massive boost to one of our primary stats, as well as a chance to increase it further on-hit.

Loatheb’s Shadow

Raid Drop: Naxxramas (10 Man) – Gluth, Loatheb

Another trinket for increasing not only your Crit Rating but an on-use Attack Power boost as well.

Mirror of Truth

Vendor: 40 Emblems of Heroism

I’ve always found that it’s nice to pair an active trinket (one with an on-use effect) with a passive trinket (one with only on-equip effects), and this trinket provides a nice passive boost to your damage output in addition to the boost to your Crit Rating (1.8% at Level 80).

Incisor Fragment

Instance Drop: Drak’Tharon Keep (Heroic) – King Dred

The on-use effect on this trinket is an interesting switch from what we’re used to. Instead of increasing Attack Power, it increases Armor Penetration, which is particularly useful for Marksmanship Hunters in later content.

Sphere of Red Dragon’s Blood

Instance Drop: The Nexus (Heroic) – Keristrasza

This trinket is particularly attractive if you’re under the Hit cap. It provides a nice boost to Hit along with an on-use Attack Power boost.

Fury of the Five Flights

Raid Drop: The Obsidian Sanctum (25 Man) – Sartharion

A bonus of 16 Attack Power doesn’t sound like much, but if you can manage to get the full 20 stacks, that’s a total of 320 Attack Power. However, you only get the bonus (and add stacks) for 10 seconds, so that 320 Attack Power will not be for the full 10 seconds–if you manage to get all 20 stacks in that small window of time in the first place. Still, this trinket was an extremely popular choice before the release of Ulduar, so it bears mentioning.

Grim Toll

Raid Drop: Naxxramas (25 Man) – Maexxna, Gothik the Harvester, Grobbulus, Heigan the Unclean

Another great trinket if you’re low on Hit Rating, and the added Armor Penetration is a nice bonus as well.

Platinum Disks of Battle

Vendor: 25 Wintergrasp Marks of Honor

This is a slightly different version of the Anvil of Titans. Instead of a chance-on-hit to increase your Attack Power, this trinket provides an on-use effect that gives you a little more control.

Pyrite Infuser

Raid Drop: Ulduar (10-Man, Normal) – Flame Leviathan

Again, another nice trinket to have if you’re low on Hit Rating along with the chance-on-hit to increase your Attack Power by a significant amount.

Blood of the Old God

Raid Drop: Ulduar (25-Man,  Normal) – Yogg-Saron

Similar to the Pyrite Infuser, this trinket provides a bit more Hit Rating.

Dark Matter

Raid Drop: Ulduar (10-Man, Normal) – Algalon the Observer

This trinket gives a decidedly beefy boost to your Attack Power right out of the gate, and a passive chance-on-hit to increase your Crit Rating.

Mjolnir Runestone

Raid Drop: Ulduar (10-Man, Normal) – Cache of Storms

This trinket provides a 2% increase to your Crit Chance as well as a chance-on-hit to bump up your Armor Penetration.

Wrathstone

Raid Drop: Ulduar (25-Man, Normal) – Cache of Living Stone

This trinket is extremely forthright in it’s benefits: a 2.4% bonus to Crit Chance and sizable chunk of Attack Power on-use to go along with it.

Comet’s Trail

Raid Drop: Ulduar (25-Man, Normal) – Algalon the Observer

A straight boost to Attack Power along with a chance-on-hit to increase your Haste.

Death’s Choice (Horde) / Death’s Verdict (Alliance)

Raid Drop: Trial of the Crusader (25-Man, Normal) – Fjola Lightbane

I had intended, deliberately, to leave out faction-specific trinkets, but these just couldn’t be ignored. You get a straight boost to Attack Power, along with a chance-on-hit to increase your Agility as well.

Both of these trinkets also have “Heroic” versions, which are obtained in the 25-Man Heroic version of the same raid instance: Death’s Choice / Death’s Verdict.

Mark of Supremacy

Vendor: 50 Emblems of Triumph

Another trinket for those low on Hit, with a nice on-use boost to Attack Power.

And that covers it for Hunter-y trinkets currently available in the game! Hopefully this list will help you find the upgrades you  need to fill those elusive trinket slots, and perhaps get you your Superior and/or Epic achievements!

Happy Hunting!
