This post is one that I’ve been giving a lot of thought to recently. Finding the words for what I want to say has been difficult, and I’m sure I won’t get it quite right despite my best efforts. I’ll clarify and answer questions in the comments if need be. Anyway, today we have some good news and some bad news, none of which is particularly class-related so you can essentially skip it if you’d like. Having put this off all week, let’s get it over with, shall we?
The Bad News
For some of you, this may not actually be “bad” news, per se.
I won’t be writing for The Hunter’s Mark (or WoW Insider) anymore. I just don’t have the passion for the Hunter class that I once did, which is largely the result of changes made to the class since The Burning Crusade, making it difficult for me to give the class the same level of devotion and attention that I have in the past. Now, don’t get me wrong. I love my Hunter and always will. I intend to continue to stay abreast of news and changes made to the class and continue to play it occasionally as time permits. I’m not completely abandoning the Hunter community. I simply want to be able to devote more of my time to other aspects of the game that I’ve been enjoying recently without having to feel guilty about neglecting my Hunter and my readers here at THM.
I may still occasionally post articles here on THM as the spirit moves me to do so, but for the most part I’ll simply be running things behind the scenes.
What does that mean for THM?
The Hunter’s Mark will, at least for now, remain open and continue to be updated. I’ve brought another author on board (more on that below) who I feel will help maintain the spirit and quality of the community we’ve built here on THM, and I’ll be bringing on additional authors as necessary to keep pace with the posting schedule I’ve established here over the past couple years. Additionally, I’ll continue to be an editor for THM to make sure that there are as few changes as possible as the site moves forward, so we can make the transition as seamless as possible for you, our readers.
The Hunter’s Mark Forums will also remain open and active, and I plan to check in with the forums on a regular basis, just as I do now, to offer help and answer questions as necessary. I’ll also still be answering questions and feedback from the Contact page, so you’ll still be able to get in touch with me with any concerns or questions if you need to. I want to make it clear: I’ll still be available and involved with the community here at THM, I just won’t be the primary content author anymore.
This was a difficult decision for me to make, having put so much love and work into what I’ve tried to build here at THM. Also, I didn’t want any of my readers to feel like I’ve abandoned them. However, I realized that I couldn’t continue to produce the same quality of content for the Hunter class as I have in the past, and that wasn’t fair to you either. So, I hope this compromise will work and THM will continue to be a reliable source of information and discussion for the Hunter community. Again, I’ll still be behind the scenes making sure THM continues to run smoothly. Also, for those of you who wish to stay current with my in-game doings, I’ll be updating my subdomain blog more frequently in the near future, so you can find me there if you like.
Now, with that out of the way, let’s wrap things up with some good news and end today on a high note.
The Good News
THM has added a new author to the roster: Aerislan. Those of you who spend some time on the THM Forums may already be familiar with him, and over the past few days I’ve gotten to know him better myself and I feel he’ll be an invaluable addition to the author team here at THM. He’s got a lot of passion for the Hunter class and the community, and he’s very eager to help THM continue to be a constant source of discussion and insight for the Hunter class. He’s already gone out of his way to help me continue to maintain the site and forums, sharing ideas and suggestions to help improve the site and generate discussion, and I’m sure his dedication to the community will help make this transition much smoother than it otherwise would be. I hope you’ll all help welcome him to the fold and treat him with the respect he deserves.
Aerislan’s first post here on THM will be going live within the next few days and I hope you’ll all take some time to comment and show support for our newest addition to the author team.
Got questions or concerns? Leave ‘em in the comments. I’ll be checking. (Play nice.)

I hate to see my Hunter Sister go and leave us hunters. But I undertand your feeling and canonly wish you the best!
Here’s a beer to you and your future endeavors and can’t wait to see you work your magic on the priest class!

Well I’m sure you know what I’m going to say so I will keep it brief and not be too mushy: it’s all cause of Lass that I am where I am both in-game and in-the-blogosphere and for that I offer much sincere thanks!
Have fun with your non-hunters; “fun” is what the game is for!
And I for one also think you did a good job at WI. I’d tell you to send them my way if they are looking for a new hunter columnist, because I’d feel rather honored to write for them, but then on second thought I dunno if I could survive the hungry teeth of the commenters =P There are tons of hunter bloggers out there who are better at math and stuff than I am anyhow who would probably do a better job than I (Drotara and Euripides come to mind… there’s many others too).
Again, take care

Hey Lass,
Thanks for all the work and information you have shared.
Your chain trapping video from Shattered Halls is still tops.
I look forward to the new and improved HM, and hope to hear more of you on Twisted Nether.
Take Care!
@Pike
I think you would be great on WI, and don’t worry about those trolls. We gots your back!

Ah Lass, The Hunter’s Mark was the first hunter blog I read, back when I was a wee hunter. I thought it was the best thing ever
I’m gonna miss your writing!
Welcome to Aerislan, look forward to reading your posts!

I woke up feeling great, now I’m shedding tears into my rice crispies.
I just wanna say thank you for all the Hunter tips and updates you gave me back when I was still playing mine. You without a doubt, added a lot more played time to that guy.
Glad to hear you’ll still be lurking around Anth’s Corner. Your “VIPs” are happy bunnies.
A big welcome to Aerislan! I’ll definitely be checking back to see what he comes up with.

I’ve enjoyed being a reader since I started actively reading WoW blogs, and I hope you find the best with whatever class/game/hobby fits you most.
If anybody wants, they can check out furryhunter.blogspot.com. I’m moving into the blogosphere and trying my hand at it, as well.
My second 80 will probably be my priest, so I’ll probably be checking in on Antherwina’s Corner as well

Hiya Lass,
WOW! All I can say is “Thank You my Sister” for all the help with macros you gave me among other stuff. But I am glad to read that you don’t have the same love anymore. I thought I was the only one who felt like that. My huntress is lvl 72, my death knight is lvl 80. Which do I play because it is fun? The DK. Which do I not play because isn’t fun, why the Huntress. I was ready to quit the game until Litch King came out and both my grand daughter and I sat down together and made DK’s. Haven’t look back since. Though I still have 3 other hunters (on different servers, with 2 at 48 and 1 at 22), I don’t play them. Glorified bankers now, they are. Their hunter clothes have been packed away into their trunks… The rifles are up above the fireplace and the pets resting comfortably by their comfy chairs, enjoying a well earned rest. Now and then I may break out the city clothes to go to the bank or to friend’s weddings. But other than that, they have been retired.
Good luck, and Good Hunting no matter what. Take care. (and good luck to Aerislan!).
-Siggy
