What’s the most basic thing that every WoW player has in common? We’re all human.
Yes, that’s up for some debate, but just humor me. Every single toon running around Azeroth is controlled by a person (even the undead). Sooner or later this person will want some companionship and will start looking for people. Once enough people get together chances are pretty good that they’ll form a guild.
That scenario is about as simple as it gets. Rarely is it that easy finding a good guild, I’m sure we can all agree on that. Some guilds are full of ninjas; some are super fanatic about raiding. Some guilds are so big that you just feel like a number. The first guild I joined was comprised of people who knew each other in real life and were on the average, 5-6 years younger than me. Suffice it to say, I typed /gquit after only a few hours. My next foray into a guild was much more fruitful. I found a great group of people who just wanted to have fun. It was a casually-serious guild that would drop everything and help a lowbie who was getting camped in Southshore. I was lucky; I had a lot of great times there.
Now there’s a site that lets you focus on playing the game instead of standing on the Stormwind bank steps asking for a guild invite. LookingForGuild.Net let’s you find your perfect fit. Lassirra included this site in a previous post, but since then the site has changed ownership, gotten a makeover and now supports Warhammer online guilds as well.
On the home page you can check the want ads for your server. Just click on the ad and it will tell you the guild name, type, raiding schedule, what classes they’re looking for and their progression. You can dive a little deeper and browse guilds or players. There is also an option to search guilds using specific search criteria such as raid schedule or progression. These general options are great for recruiter and player alike.
Want to invest a little time? Register on the site and a guild can look for you! It’s very much like applying for a job. You’ll be asked the usual questions (name, level, faction, class and spec) as well as some short answer questions such as: “What are you looking for in a guild?” and “What would you bring to our guild? Why should we pick you?” There’s also a box to check if you’re willing to hop on over to a different server. Fill out the questionnaire, and wait for the offers to come pouring in!
The one downside that I see is that this site is pretty new, because of this, not all realms have listings. The upside is that now there’s a central location to give specifics on what you’re looking for and what you can provide. I’ve already taken the time to register on this site because once again I’m just a person looking for some people…
