Hunter Island Contest Winners

Some of you may have noticed different author tags on posts over the past week or so which marked the continuation of the Hunter Island contest and the beginning of round three, the final round. There was no “announcement” post indicating that round three was to begin mostly because I felt they were tedious and not particularly what people came here to see, so round three began with no fanfare whatsoever. Now, my friends, we find ourselves at the end of round three and the end of the contest. There are a few things I’d like to talk about concerning the contest, and yes, its time to announce the winners!

First, I’d like to thank all the folks who took the time to submit their work and participate in the contest! The dedication and hard work of each of these folks showed clearly in the beautifully crafted posts they submitted for all of us to enjoy, and I’d like to thank each of them for sharing their thoughts, feelings and adventures with us. Give yourselves a pat on the back, guys and gals, you did a great job! It takes courage to put your thoughts out there for all the world to read. Well done, all of you!

Choosing Winners

Now, before I announce the winners, let me explain why there wasn’t any public voting for this round, unlike past rounds where all of you determined the outcome.

First, I felt that the final decision of who would remain was an extremely important one. I felt that to leave that decision mostly to chance would be disrespectful, both to the authors who participated and to THM itself. That’s not to say that I don’t trust the majority of my visitors to make well thought out decisions regarding who would stay and who would go, but there are too many ways for less discerning individuals to skew the results. So, I wanted to make this decision myself. I appreciate the help from all of my visitors in narrowing down the field up to this point. I hope you all had fun and enjoyed that part of the contest!

Second, I had changed my mind about the details concerning the end of the contest at the last minute. As those who have been following the contest will know, I had originally planned to take on only two additional bloggers. However, as round three ended, I decided to amend that slightly.

Our Winners

We have three winners! Gildor, Dervisch and Imjorman have all been chosen to stay on as regular authors for The Hunter’s Mark! Congratulations, guys, you did an amazing job! Each of these authors has shown impressive dedication and enthusiasm throughout the contest and I’ve no doubt they’ll continue to show that ambition throughout their posting careers here on THM. Thanks to all three of you for sticking with it and showing your support for me, the site and the Hunter community as a whole.

To our other contestants, you also did an amazing job, and each of you are welcome to submit guest posts to THM in the future! Your hard work was not overlooked, and I hope each of you will continue to be active and supportive members of the Hunter community in the future. Well done!
