I haven’t updated in over a week, which is almost unheard of these days. I promise, I’m not dead and I haven’t stopped playing WoW or anything. I’ve just been frightfully busy.
So, last Friday I left for Maine to attend the wedding of two good friends of mine. The wedding was gorgeous, despite the fact that it was outdoors and Mother Nature deigned to rain on our parade the entire weekend. A good time was still had by all, and it was a beautiful ceremony as well as a nice reunion of old friends. The happy couple have since gone off to Hawaii for their honeymoon. (Yes, I’m jealous.)
Congratulations, Caleb and Courtney!
I returned Sunday evening, when I promptly commenced moving. And by that I don’t mean I did a happy jig, I mean I actually packed up everything I own and moved it to a new house. You don’t realize quite how much crap you’ve accumulated (even having lost a good portion of your belongings in a divorce) until you have to pack all of it in boxes and move it somewhere else. I’m still in the same state (Vermont, if you’re curious), just 30-45 minutes (depending on whether or not you speed, like I do) North of my previous location.
I’ve almost settled in, but not quite. Which is to say, 90% of my belongings are here, they’re just not unpacked and/or situated yet.
Monday, it was back to work. Having been AFK since Friday, I was a bit behind on my work at the Advisor, and so I had my work cut out for me. I’ve been playing catch-up since then, each day bringing a slew of new editing and authoring tasks as the Advisor prepares for the release of 3.0 as well as WotLK itself.
If that weren’t enough, either Tuesday or Wednesday (I forget which, it’s been a bit of a blur) I realized I was coming down with a cold.
Not just any cold, apparently, but some evil strain of plague that we thought had long been wiped out.
I’ll spare you the gorey details, but suffice it to say I’ve been slurping soup and chugging orange juice in between naps, stints of editing, and conference calls. THM, as well as Antherwina’s Corner, have thus taken a bit of a back seat the past few days.
While I’m still in the throes of this evil flu, I’m more and more returning to my usual work routine (if it could’ve been termed such in the first place) and you should see the continuation of activity here at THM within the next couple days. Trust me, I haven’t forgotten you!
I received a couple lovely emails from folks over the past couple days that have really served to brighten my days, and for that I am thankful.
As to the Brewfest Contest I had proposed early last week (or was it the week before?), well, that’s been canceled. For one, I forgot that I was going out of town while the contest was supposed to have taken place, and so I’m a bonehead. The bright side is that few submissions were sent in, so it wouldn’t have been an overly active contest anyway. So, if you were wondering about that, well, now you know the state of affairs.
All that aside, I should have a very special surprise coming for you all very soon that I hope you’ll enjoy. More details on that to come as I get clearance from other involved parties to share the good news.
