About The Hunter’s Mark (THM)
The Hunter’s Mark, as a blog, has been around since December of 2006. It originally started on a sub-domain of a private site centered around web design, as Lassirra explored combining several interests: gaming, web design, and writing. As the blog grew in scope and readership, it switched from the original CuteNews software it had been built on to a more robust WordPress build.
As the site grew in popularity, and server performance was distinctly lacking, THM moved to it’s own domain, taking with it all previous entries made on the old domain (and with the old software).
About the Author
Lassirra, a former Hunter columnist for WoW Insider and Content Editor for The Azeroth Advisor, is the original brains behind The Hunter’s Mark. She maintains the forums, as well as THM’s Twitter and Facebook accounts and the monthly newsletter. Her most recent project is the WoW Hunters Wiki – a comprehensive source of all hunter-related game information.
Lassirra can also be found on her own Twitter account.
About Our Mascot
Meet Scruffer, The Hunter’s Mark official mascot! Scruffer was chosen as THM’s official mascot via a series of reader polls. First, readers were asked to decide which species of pet THM should have as it’s mascot. 26% of those that participated in the poll chose a cat as THM’s official mascot. A subsequent poll provided a series of cat models for readers to choose their favorite, and when voting closed, Scruffer’s model had been chosen. He made his first appearance on the site in a ninja redesign on July 23, 2009. Originally, it was planned that readers would suggest names for THM’s new mascot and then vote on their favorites, but Lassirra pulled executive authority and named the new mascot herself (after an old real life pet of hers from her childhood). Thus, THM’s new mascot was dubbed: Scruffer.
