About a month ago, we took a look at some of the 5-man loot from the new Icecrown Citadel instances. At the time, there wasn’t a whole lot of information readily available about which bosses those items dropped from and which of the three instances they could be found in. Now that the patch has gone live, we know what’s what and we can clarify some of that information. So today, we’re going to revisit the loot tables for the new 5-mans in Icecrown Citadel.
First, it’s worth noting that you can’t just jump into any of the three 5-mans you want right off the bat. You have to complete the first 5-man, The Forge of Souls, on either normal or heroic before you can gain access to the second, the Pit of Saron, which you then must complete on either normal or heroic to gain access to the final instance, the Halls of Reflection.
The Forge of Souls
There are two bosses in the Forge of Souls: Bronjahm and the Devourer of Souls.
Normal Loot
- Accursed Crawling Cape — Devourer of Souls
- Heartshiver — Devourer of Souls
- Tower of the Mouldering Corpse — Devourer of Souls
Heroic Loot
- Eyes of Bewilderment — Bronjahm
- Nighttime — Bronjahm
- Blood Weeper — Devourer of Souls
- Essence of Suffering — Devourer of Souls
- Needle-Encrusted Scorpion — Devourer of Souls
The Pit of Saron
There are three boss encounters in the Pit of Saron: Forgemaster Garfrost, Ick and Krick, and Scourgelord Tyrannus.
Normal Loot
- Ring of Carnelian and Bone — Forgemaster Garfrost
- Krick’s Beetle Stabber — Ick
- Scabrous Zombie Leather Belt — Ick
- Rimebane Rifle — Scourgelord Tyrannus
- Gondria’s Spectral Bracer — Scourgelord Tyrannus
- Horns of the Spurned Val’kyr — Scourgelord Tyrannus
Heroic Loot
- Barbed Ymirheim Choker — Forgemaster Garfrost
- Spurned Val’kyr Shoulderguards — Forgemaster Garfrost
- Felglacier Bolter — Ick
- Belt of Rotted Fingernails — Scourgelord Tyrannus
- Band of Stained Souls — Scourgelord Tyrannus
The Halls of Reflection
There are two boss events within the Halls of Reflection, one of which is an event that encompasses two separate bosses: Falric and Marwyn, and then the Wrath of the Lich King event.
Normal Loot
- Muddied Boots of Brill — Falric
- Ghoulslicer — Falric
- Frostsworn Bone Leggings — Marwyn
- Crypt Fiend Slayer — Lich King
- Hate-Forged Cleaver — Lich King
Heroic Loot
- Spiked Toestompers — Falric
- Frostsworn Bone Chestpiece — Marwyn
- Orca-Hunter’s Harpoon — Marwyn
- Hoarfrost Gauntlets — Lich King
And that’s it! Next, we’ll be taking a look at raid loot for hunters.
Happy Hunting!

Do you have a post on Intellect and hunters? I’ve started to see some more stuff with Intellect, but have passed on it mainly as I understand it to be a healing stat (Shammy’s). Is there some other stat that I should look for with it to take it?
Thanks,

If it has agility, stamina, and intellect on it we hunters can use it. We share a lot of mail pieces with Shaman. Sometimes there are two pieces, with one being better for a shaman, while the other is better for a hunter.

Intellect is not exclusively a healer stat, particularly if you have the Careful Aim talent which adds to your Attack Power for each point of Intellect you have.
All Intellect does, essentially, is increase your mana pool. With that in mind, it’s obviously not a key stat for hunters to be stacking, but a bigger mana pool does mean less time with Aspect of the Viper up, and therefore more overall damage. Additionally, as I mentioned, if you’ve got Careful Aim, you get Attack Power from Intellect as well, making it even more valuable. Still not something to seek out specifically, but helpful.
The point when Intellect becomes anathema to Hunters will be Cataclysm, when we’ll no longer be using mana as our resource (we’ll be using focus instead). Presumably, Intellect will be removed from most, if not all, physical DPS Mail by that time.

Thanks for the replys. I kind of poked around after reading this and have a bit better idea of what I’m looking for with new PuG system!
Thanks for the follow up.

At what point do you take a 1h weapon drop? I use female dwarf to calculate dps but if I only have my 2h weapon it feels wrong to roll on a 1h that I can’t use until I pick up a second great 1h weapon! I see The Forge of Souls drops several great 1h weapons, some of which I’ve already passed on. Am I being silly and should roll? I am currently sporting the Staff of Trickery from heroic violet hold and wouldn’t mind some advice.
I’ve read the opinion that 2h weapons are better stats sticks in several places.

If you’ve got two 1-handers in mind that, combined, would constitute an upgrade for you over the 2-hander you’re currently using, definitely roll on them when you happen to see them. Keep using your 2-hander until you get both the drops you want, and then make the switch. If there’s another 2-hander that’s even better than the combined 1-handers, just wait for the 2-hander to drop that way folks (like Rogues) that will use the 1-handers longer can have them.
That’s the general rule of thumb that I follow, anyway. I don’t think there’s any established etiquette on that, but that’s how I do it.
In short: if two 1-handers will be the best you can get, grab them as they come. If 1-handers are not what you plan to end up with in the long term, hold out for the best.

Thanks for your response. I’ve since picked up nighttime and blood weeper while no interested rogues were around.

LOL. I knew I would find the answer to the question on my mind here. I’ve already got Nighttime in a bag. I’ll get a another one hander and then wait for the harpoon to drop.
