Hunter Gear for Leveling (21-30)

Continuing from our previous post covering levels 10-20, we’ll be taking a look at more leveling gear for you to keep an eye out for. Again, there are way too many items in game for me to list them all, but I’ll try to cover the particularly appealing pieces that you should go after.

Level 21 – 30

Armor

Barbaric Bracers – These are made by Leatherworkers and can easily be picked up on the Auction House if you can’t craft them yourself. The materials are relatively easy to pick up as farmers level, so they should be moderately priced.

Moss Cinch – One thing I would note about this belt is that it’s really only appealing to Hunters with Careful Aim, because the Intellect will translate into Attack Power. If you’re not specced into Careful Aim, don’t worry about getting this belt.

Petrolspill Leggings – These leggings are a zone drop in Gnomeregan. Because they’re bind-on-equip, you should be able to pick them up from the Auction House if you can’t get them to drop, but keep in mind that they may be fairly high priced since they’re an attractive item for twinks.

Toughened Leather Gloves – These are another Leatherworking item. Again, the materials to make these aren’t too difficult to come by so they should be reasonably priced.

Mantle of Thieves – These shoulders are a zone drop in Razorfen Kraul and because they’re bind-on-equip, you should be able to pick them up from the Auction House. While the Spirit on these shoulders is useless to us, the other stats are definitely nice to have.

Weapons

Reef Axe – This two-handed axe drops from Gelihast in Blackfathom Deeps. While the Stamina on this axe is nice, it’s really the Attack Power on it that makes it truly desirable.

Armor Piercer – This polearm drops from a rare spawn in Razorfen Kraul, Razorfen Spearhide.

Thornspike – This dagger drops from Aggem Thorncurse in Razorfen Kraul.

Vendetta – This dagger is a zone drop in Razorfen Kraul.

Take either of the two-handed weapons or both of the one-handers and they’re roughly equivalent, so go after whichever is easiest for you to get.

Naga Heartpiercer – This bow drops from Lady Sarevess in Blackfathom Deeps.

Nightstalker Bow – This bow drops from a rare spawn in Razorfen Kraul, Blind Hunter.

Glass Shooter – This gun drops from a rare spawn in Gnomeregan, Dark Iron Ambassador.

These last two ranged weapons are bind-on-pick-up, so you won’t be able to pick them up from the Auction House if you’re not lucky enough to get the mobs to spawn.

A Note on Farming Drops

One thing to keep in mind while leveling is that farming items in instances as you level is vastly different from farming drops at the level cap. When players farm drops at the level cap, it’s for a reason: because they won’t be able to get better items any other way. (Either because the item they’re after is a best-in-slot item, or because they don’t have access to content that has better drops.)

However, farming for drops as you level is a waste of time. You have plenty more levels to go, and sooner or later even standard quest rewards will be better than what you’re farming for. Only run instances because you want to or because you have multiple objectives to complete within a given instance. If you have quests to do, multiple drops you’re hoping for or you just enjoy a particular instance–run it to your heart’s content. But don’t run an instance because you’re hell bent on getting one particular item. It’s a waste of your time. Better items will come along with little effort on your part as you go.
