Raid Consumables for Wrath

New cooking recipes, new potions, new elixirs, new flasks, new arrows and bullets. Know what that means? New pre-raid check list! Below is your “Good To Go” items for killing dragons and undead.

You know what they say, “all end games are 70% dragon.” Be prepared! Dragons are mean. :(

Food

We’ll start off with a list of various foods you may wish to rock into raids with. Which food you choose will depend largely on what gear you already have. Use these items to flesh out any gaps you might have. For example, if you’re still below the Hit Cap, be sure to pick up some +Hit food. If you’re stacking AP, of course go for that. Etc.

Haste

Agility

Attack Power

Armor Penetration

Crit

Hit

Pet Foods

Feasts

Elixirs and Flasks

Like food, elixirs and flasks should be used to fill any gaps in your stats. You’ll want to mix and match your food and elixirs so there’s no overlap, unless you’ve got a particular stat that is extremely lacking. For instance, if you’re using +Hit food, you’ll want to use +Agility or +Attack Power elixirs or flasks, unless you’re still below the Hit Cap even after your Well Fed buff.

Remember, you can only use 1 Battle Elixir and 1 Guardian Elixir or 1 Flask at a time.

Projectiles

So far, there have only been two “levels” of projectiles added in Wrath. There are currently no reputation projectiles (like Timeless Arrows) available for this expansion and I’ve not heard anything (yet) that would indicate any are to be added. As such, you’ve got three options available to you:

  1. You can keep porting to Shatt and purchasing your old projectiles
  2. You can purchase new projectiles off vendors in Dalaran
  3. You can have new projectiles crafted

If you had access to Timeless Arrows or their bullet counterpart, you’ll find they provide more DPS than vendor projectiles available in Dalaran. As such, you may want to keep a stockpile of those with you for raiding. If you have access to the new crafted ammunitions, grab those instead–they do provide more DPS than the Scale of the Sands ammunitions.

The new ammunitions available are:

The first two can be purchased from vendors in Dalaran. The second two must be crafted.

For 15 Saronite Bars, Engineers can create Saronite Arrow Makers that have 10 charges (in other words, one maker will produce a total of 2000 arrows) that anyone can use to fill their quivers. Likewise, Engineers can also create Ultrasafe Bullet Machines that will produce 2000 bullets for 6 Saronite Bars and 4 Volatile Blasting Triggers. (1 Saronite Bar requires 2 Saronite Ore.)

Also worth mentioning, there are two new projectile bags available in Wrath:

Both are 28-slot bags, the first for arrows and the second for bullets.

Putting It All To Work

Now that you know the specifics, it’s time for your pre-raid checklist. As always, you’ll want to bring the following to every raid:

  • 20 Stack of Buff Food
  • 20 Stack of Battle Elixirs
  • 20 Stack of Guardian Elixirs
  • 5 Stack of Flasks
  • Full Quiver/Ammo Pouch, plus extras
  • Back-Up Ranged Weapon

The last was something that I was reminded of recently while venturing through H-Naxx. In true Huntard fashion, I had my bow completely break, and didn’t have a back-up with me. (Thanks, Volley!) Thankfully, someone was able to drop a repair bot, so I didn’t have to deal with the shame of hearthing and requiring a summon back. But, the lesson was learned well. I used to bring back-ups with me constantly, but somewhere along the way got out of the habit.

That’ll teach me.

Anyway, the above checklist should see you through a 3-hour wipe-fest (presumably on progression content!) with no problems. If you’re worried about running out anyway, double the order.

Happy hunting!

    Back-Up Ranged Weapon Hmm..
    Sounds nice :D
Double barrel ^^ (Dual wielding ranged weapons, I mean)

  2. Pork says:

This is incredibly useful. Thanks a lot!

    Very nice list, thanks!

Minor correction, though. You don’t have to port to Shatt to get the old reputation ammo. There’s a specialty ammunition vendor close to the flight path in Dalaran that sells all the ammo that the specialty ammo vendors in Shatt used to sell, plus the new lvl75 ammo. The reputation discount you get might be different, though, since it gives discount based on Kirin’Tor reputation.

If you know any BC cooks, Kibler’s Bits(http://www.wowhead.com/?item=33874 ) can be great alternative to petfood. You get same effect, same icon and can keep those precious spices.

And the meat is very farmable at 80, the birds in HFP (the big bunches) drop it with rough 50% rate.

This was the post I was waiting for. I’m glad I recently put you on my regular read list. Good job!

    Very nice :)

I’ve been farming Dragonfins for the stat food so I’m ready to go for next week when I finaly start raiding!

Also a note – I believe the Fish Feast recipe is not available anywhere yet. It’s a bug they’re planning to fix “in a future patch”. Booo, I wants my Chef title!

Gonna have to start buying Flasks too. It was nice watching my gold count go up from 70-80… now I get to watch it drop while I try to fund my raiding habit.

@Frnit — That’s a really good idea. I also noticed that Kibler’s Bits and Spiced Mammoth Treats provide the exact same buffs. Going back to Hellfire is probably worth saving the Northern Spices for many other recipes.

Those bloody dragons making us spend money and level cooking. I’ve got half a mind to go and kill some!

Thanks for the info, Lass. I’ll bookmark this for my hunter. Those +Hit goodies will be very nice for my shadowypriestily Naxx run tonight :D

That is the nice thing about the changes to Hit/Crit rating; that stuff isn’t just for physical DPSers anymore. :)
