Beta Coverage Around the Blogosphere

With more people (particularly bloggers) entering the Beta, news about the upcoming changes in Wrath are everywhere. The information ranges from talent and ability changes, new game-play improvements, opinion pieces about certain changes being made, and so much more. If there’s information coming out of the Beta, you can bet your bottom dollar the blogosphere has it covered!

Having been in the Beta myself, not much of the “news” is new information to me. (Particularly since I follow MMO-Champion religiously.) What’s really interested me have been the opinions and ideas expressed as a result of the information we’re being bombarded with. There are several posts, in particular, that I really wanted to share with you on a wide variety of Wrath-related topics.

Tanking

Veneretio from TankingTips.com (one of my favorite blogs), recently posted an article about discussing Warriors between now and the release of Wrath: How to Talk About Your Warrior: Now and Soon. In this article, Veneretio describes key attributes that tanking Warriors should discuss when asking the questions “Is that good?” or “Am I ready?” in relation to certain content progression levels between now and Wrath. This article serves to put in perspective which attributes tanking Warriors should focus on now and which ones may be more relevant once the game mechanic changes coming from the expansion have gone live.

Hunters

Drotara over at Less QQ, More Pew Pew (another of my favorite blogs) has been a veritable font of information from the Beta, frequently presenting great movies to help illustrate the points he covers. One article in particular, Beta: The Kiting Video; Thoughts about Hunters and the FAQs, features an extremely well done video demonstrating the new kiting mechanics and techniques and also answers a lot of questions we encounter from readers and the community at large as more information is released from the Beta. What makes this post really shine is, as you might guess, the video. It features Drotara kiting multiple mobs simultaneously, old-school style, in the new Naxxramas during the Gluth fight. Very well done!

Priests

Matticus and Wynthea over at World of Matticus (you guessed it, another of my favorites) have been keeping themselves very busy recently hosting a contest to determine the newest blogger to enter the authorship fold over at WoM. However, they’ve still had plenty of time to pen a few pensive words about the changes coming to Priests. Matt was quick to announce the news that Priest Racials are being removed in Wrath but declined to make any judgment statement about the changes at the time. Wyn, on the other hand, had her say on the matter with her touching post: Priests, WotLK, and Wyn’s Thoughts wherein she describes her lament over the loss of her beloved racials.

Druids

Phaelia from Resto4Life posted a much-needed look at Spell Power, +Healing and Coefficients that covers the sweeping changes being made to how spell-based statistics will be effecting healers (indeed, all casters) come the release of Wrath. Specifically, Phae takes a look at how the change from +Healing to +Spell Power would effect items we’re already familiar with and goes on to further explain how the changes to healing spells (as a result of the itemization changes) will effect overall healing done, in addition to talent changes that also augment the switch.

The Big Bear Butt also weighs in on tanking changes in Wrath, but from a bear perspective, in his article A Look at Our Bear Tanking Future in Wrath. The article includes quoted excerpts from Blizzard posters in regards to changes to mechanics taking place in Wrath, as well as a very detailed, point by point, description of what Feral Druids can expect from these changes in terms of itemization and stat attributes.

Nostalgia

Euripedes over at Critical QQ posted an interesting article: Things to Make You Feel Old, which discusses a lot of the major game changes us “old timers” have seen from the original release of WoW to the current changes coming to us in Wrath. The article takes an interesting stance on the issue: describing a look back from Now to Then and how far the game has come since original release. The article is a nod to the “old school” and the folks who have been with WoW since the beginning. As someone who’s been playing since just a couple months after the original release, this article provided a nice walk down memory lane.

Cosmetic Changes

Siha at Banana Shoulders posted an interesting article that I didn’t see mentioned elsewhere (perhaps I just missed it?): New Facial Models. As you might expect, the article discusses and displays new facial models being added in Wrath, featuring female human, dwarf and gnome characters with a stunning “Before and After” shot.

Sharing

Unfortunately, there are way too many amazing articles being written about Wrath for me to detail each of them here. However, for those who visit THM directly (as opposed to through an RSS aggregator), you’ll find my Shared Items listed in the sidebar, imported from Google Reader, which features all of the articles I’ve found particularly interesting or noteworthy recently.

What posts about Wrath have you particularly enjoyed from around the blogosphere? Be sure to share them in the comments!
