Raid Consumables: Are You Prepared?
In my RSS today, I found a great article on hunter raid consumables over on DPS: We Deliver. The article provides a checklist of things no hunter should leave Shattrath without, if you’re headed to a raid instance.
The article includes a checklist of the following:
- Ammo
- Buff food
- Pet food
- Flasks
- Bandages
- Battle and Guardian Elixirs
- Mana/Health Pots
No one likes a leecher, so make sure you’re bringing your own consumables to every raid you participate in!
We’ve all been in those situations where we get pulled into a raid we weren’t planning on attending, though, so if you need to borrow consumables, be sure to either pay for them, or give them back when you are able. Also, it doesn’t hurt to bring more than you think you’ll need, just in case you A) Wipe a lot, unexpectedly, or B) Need to share some.
Another good rule of thumb is also to farm and/or purchase consumables a day or two before you plan on attending a raid, that way you’re not racing around at the last minute trying to cobble together a half-assed care package for yourself. Don’t keep others waiting, just because you didn’t plan ahead! When you’re not raiding, take some time to farm a little bit each day, that way you have extras stashed away for emergencies!
Tip: While you’re in a raid, put your Mana and Health potions on action bars, that way you don’t have to fish around in your bags for them. I usually assign a couple G15 keys to my Mana and Health potions, as well as Bandages, Mage food, and Healthstones. For Jewelcrafters: don’t forget your statues! For Herbalists: don’t forget about [item]Fel Blossom[/item]!

Stocking up early is definitely the way to go. That way you don’t get stuck either farming with everyone else, or paying exorbitant prices on the AH.
Last night, I was planning on farming some extra Furious Crawdad before a raid. That wasn’t working out too well with 5-6 other people trying to farm it, so I used what I had in the bank and I’ll refill it during a time when it’s not over-farmed.
It also helps to check the Auction House often to buy some consumables. If you’re patient, you’ll find good deals on pots, food, and such. Saves you some farming time and helps build up that stock of consumables.

One way I also try to help out other guildies is to dump a bunch of cooked up food into the guild bank from when I’ve been fishing for my own needs which is a nice way to give some help to the raid.
Excellent point about placing pots and bandages on your action bar and also re utilising your profession. I am a negligent huntard and still need to craft the epic shadow panther figurine thingy :/

I use the mailbox as my ‘on-call’ supply system. By keeping at least one set of everything I need in the mail system, I can be 100% raid-ready with almost no notice.
