This article contains outdated information.
Now that we’ve talked about some of the nifty gems you can socket your sweet hunter gear with, let’s take a look at some effective enchants to throw on there, too!
For enchants, you’ll typically just want to focus on the two major stats for hunters: Agility and Attack Power. But, there are certainly some folks out there who choose to supplement their Stamina and/or Intellect with enchants, although this is a less common practice. The enchants you choose largely depends on the stats your gear already has, and the goals you have for your stats. If someone were to ask you, “Why did you choose that enchant?”, you should be able to offer a reasonable explanation. Like, “Well, I put a +Stam enchant on that item because it already had a ton of +Agi and +AP to begin with, and I’m BM specced, so the extra Stam helps my pet.” There should always be a good reason why you’re putting an enchant on an item. Otherwise you’re gimping yourself, and wasting materials.
That said, let’s see what we’ve got!

Now, personally, I’m not a fan of the Intellect enchants. I think there’s much better out there for Hunters on those slots (i.e., Assault, Savagery, Agi). But, like I said, if you can offer a reasonable explanation for the enchants you use, then knock yourself out. Personally, I use a mix of Agi and AP enchants.
Well, anyway, there ya go! Lol. Short and sweet, wasn’t it?
I actually ended up including the faction inscriptions currently available in-game in this article as well, so for now, there won’t be a part three to this series. (Until Wrath of the Lich King comes out, that is!)

Again, thks for another post to bookmark for later reference!
I’ve been busy on my druid, but he’s also my enchanter (340 currently) so whatever I can get that is BoE I send to him to enchant and thus it’s good to know what chant recipes I should be farming for that!
Also, I’m a big fan of Intellect myself, partly because I don’t yet have AotV. And let’s not forget that AotV is based on the hunter’s INT, so the fewer INT the slower it charges back, so there may be a point where too little INT will make AotV too slow to be of use, or not!
Thanks! I’ve been looking for ways to potentially improve my gear.
Quick question/opinion though: I was able to get a +3 agi enchant on my +14 agi boots yesterday. Is this an ok thing to do or should I diversify the enchantments?
@Loronar: if you’re BM, I’d use a bit of +STA if +AGI is all the boots have. Your pet gets 40% of whatever STA you have, even food buffs, so it will make it able to tank longer or more mobs without heals. But that depends mostly on how much you have of each. It’s not wrong to stack more of one than another, check Lassirra’s other posts on the 3 trees and see what she recommends as most valuable stats for each one!

Loronar — The enchants you choose should depend largely on your own personal goals for your gear and your hunter, depending on your spec. Each spec has key stats that you’ll want to stack, for example: SV typically wants to stack +Agi, since many of the benefits of this tree are conditional procs based off Crit and Agi, which can be buffed by enhancing your Agi.
Some folks shy away from stacking a particular stat or two too much, for various reasons, while others have no problems ramping one stat to get the most bang out of it. It all depends on three things: your spec, your goals, and your playing style.
Like I said, if you have a reasonable purpose for putting a specific enchant on any of your items, then there’s no reason not to. Enchants are meant to provide you with a means to increase the stats you want, without having to depend entirely on a certain piece of gear dropping; or, if you can’t find a specific piece of gear with the exact stats you want, enchants are a great way to improve a piece of gear that’s pretty close to what you were looking for.

although your lists are extremely helpful, they aren’t by any means complete….. for example, chest pieces are enchantable and +health or +all stats are both good choices for hunters.
Nice list you did Lass, I’ve never did enchanting but I imagine theres an enchant for everything! I’m glad you narrowed that list down to the most important hunter stats. My question is this. Is this a complete list of highend enchants for hunter gear? Reason why I ask is I see that I can only enchant my cloak with Agility, nothing else, is this a correct assumption? I’m sure there are lower level enchants for the cloak, but lets say I was going to bookmark this list and use it as a guide to enchanting my gear, do I have piece of mind knowing that my cloak can only have AGI to free up another piece of gear for a different enchant if needed? Thanks again, hopefully you do another list for WotLK!
